The Professional’s Guide to Bespoke Jewellery
Precision, Protection, and the Value of Time
For the modern professional, luxury purchases are not just about acquiring the finished object; it’s about the whole experience.
If you are managing a demanding career, a global team, or a complex practice, you likely value efficiency as much as you value aesthetics. You want a piece that tells a story, but you don't have the time for a process that feels disorganized or opaque.
Having transitioned from leadership roles in the global pharmaceutical industry and the Army to the goldsmith’s bench, I approach every commission with a unique "Scientific Artisan" methodology. Here is how I ensure the bespoke journey is as disciplined as it is creative.
Respecting the Ultimate Luxury: Your Time
I understand that a "relaxed consultation" shouldn't mean a "long-winded" one. My process is designed to be unhurried in quality, yet streamlined in execution.
The Initial Discovery Call: We begin with a focused 15-to-30-minute consultation (via Zoom) to establish the brief, budget, and timeline.
Digital Milestone Updates: You shouldn't have to wonder about the status of your piece. At every stage I provide regular, high-definition video updates/photos of your piece, delivering confidence in the process. This allows you to witness the "alchemy" of the sandcasting and goldsmithing on your own schedule.
Prototyping: For particularly complex or valuable pieces I offer prototyping (usually in silver) to ensure the finished piece will be perfect.
A Structured Roadmap: From the initial sketch to the final hallmark, every commission follows a clear project timeline. No "creative's block," no missed deadlines - just professional-to-professional reliability.
Secure Logistics: The "Last Mile" of Luxury
Investing £3,000+ in a bespoke or one-of-a-kind piece requires absolute confidence in its safe arrival.
Discreet, Insured Shipping: All commissions are shipped via Royal Mail Special Delivery (ensuring fully insured, tracked, and signed-for specialist cover). To ensure security, the outer packaging is entirely "brand neutral." No one - from the sorting office to the doorstep - will know there is fine gold inside.
Valuation & Insurance: Protecting Your Asset
A bespoke commission is an emotional milestone, but it is also a financial asset. I provide the documentation necessary to ensure that asset is protected from day one.
Independently Tested: Every piece I create is independently tested and hallmarked at the Edinburgh Assay Office, providing a legal guarantee of metal purity.
Insurance Valuation Certificates: Along with your jewellery, you receive a formal Valuation for Insurance. This document includes a detailed description, high-resolution photography, and a replacement value to ensure your specialist insurers have everything they need. Should you need specialist insurance for a piece I can recommend an appropriate Insurance policy from the same insurers who cover my workshop.
Ethical Provenance: In 2026, value is increasingly tied to ethics. By using SMO (Single Mine Origin) Gold, I provide a "Provenance Note" that details the exact mine and the social/environmental benefits your purchase has supported. It is a story of value that goes deeper than the surface polish.
The Peer-to-Peer Relationship
Commissioning a piece of fine jewellery should feel like a partnership.
Each piece I create is a union of ideas, creative passion and craft. I don’t just work for my clients; I work with them to translate an idea into a permanent legacy.
If you are ready to mark a milestone with the same level of precision you apply to your own work, I invite you to begin the process.
