One of a kind white gold and silver earrings set with a London Blue topaz

£750.00

Handmade earrings combining forged 9ct white gold settings and sandcast sterling silver”wedges”. The sandcast wedges at the bottom of the earrings are attached to the body of the earring by white gold bars, using a stirrup design (similar to Roman designs) to hold the wedges. The bar holding the stirrup attaches by jump ring to the bottom of the small “circles within a circle” backing plates, in white gold.

At the centre of the earrings are twin 0.5ct London Blue topaz stones held in place by 9ct white gold claws. The earrings are finished with handmade white gold butterflies

The sand for the casting was collected from Chapel Port beach in Cornwall, one of the best surfing beaches on the North coast. The sand tends to be fine grains, made of granite and shale so the texture is light.

The cast elements are cast using the Delft Clay technique meaning every element is different as the mould can only be used once.

After piece has been completed I clean it up by hand and finish it with a satin or polished surface, depending on the texture.
